how to stay safe in the sun: from sunscreen to sunglasses and hair protection

how to stay safe in the sun: from sunscreen to sunglasses and hair protection

the word "summer" brings up images of breezy days spent by the beach... ice cream on hot nights, international adventures, bright blue water and a lot of sun! there are some simple ways to be safe in the sun that won't prevent you from taking advantage of the sunny weather this summer. here are my tips for you to stay safe in the sun, from hair protection to sunglasses.

first of all, without a doubt: use sunscreen. the truth about sunscreen is that wearing it every single day is the single most important thing you can do to keep your skin youthful and healthy!

on my daily bases I use the vichy fiftactiv SPF25. to be honest, I’ve stolen this day cream from my mom a few months ago and I’m completely obsessed. I’ve already made a second purchase! this cream is specifically formulated to protect against aging signs caused by UVA and UVB radiation: fine lines, pigmentation and loss of elasticity. I’ve got a lot of pigmentation and redness in my skin, and I can promise you this day cream made a diference right away. its lightweight formula provides hydration for up to 24 hours whilst making my skin appear more radiant. it really helps even my skin tone… and my dark spots are nearly all gone.

if I would have to rank the last sunscreens I’ve used, this one would be on my top 3: hawaiian tropic sheer sunscreen SPF 50. the coconut scent smells amazing and it glides on smooth and absorbs quickly! this formula even has sparkly glitter in it to give you a glow. the glitter doesn't shed or isn't difficult to wash off in the shower, so no worries. you can buy this sunscreen in the supermarkets, but when you can’t find it in the stores, order thru amazon. they have a twin pack for 20€ ;)

this next product… I must say is my oily grail for summer time: kérastase soleil oil. this hair oil is specifically designed for hair that is excessively exposed to the sun, chlorine and sea salt. I lovoooe this hair oil! it makes my hair look gorgeous, it smells great and feels really nice when applied.

for me, it’s just as crucial to protect my dry lips from the sun as it is to use sunscreen. this lip balm is really a must have for the summer: the fortune balm SPF 30 from rituals. It moisturizes my lips and has SPF 30. I’ve often used lip products with SPF and it often leaves a white sheen… this lip balm looks perfectly nice, shiny and has a lovely fresh scent.

after a long day at the beach and a cool shower when I return home, I love moisturizing. the estée lauder bronze goddess body cream makes you feel like a goddess! it gives you the necessary moisture while leaving your skin smell like a tropical paradise all day/night long.

last but not least: hat and sunglasses! my fave summer hat is from cinco (trust me in this one!!!). while providing you with sun protection, this cinco’s crochet hat will nevertheless make you look stylish. it is absolutely adorable. I always use sunglasses with this crocheted hat all the time. saint laurent cat-eye sunglasses were my most recent purchase. I realize I'm a little late to the trend, but better late than never! these are the perfect plain black sunglasses with grey-tinted lenses. saint laurent is known for defining powerful, feminine style, and these sunglasses are the definition of that.
