INCM CERTIFICATION
CINCO precious-metal jewelry is sold in accordance with applicable Portuguese hallmarking rules and bears legal marks where required.
In Portugal, precious-metal jewelry is subject to official assay and hallmarking requirements. The Portuguese Assay Offices — known as Contrastarias and integrated into INCM — independently verify precious-metal articles and apply official hallmarks where legally required.

UNDERSTANDING THE MARKS
ASSAY OFFICE MARK
An official hallmark identifies the precious metal and its legal fineness following the applicable assay and marking process.
RESPONSIBILITY MARK
The responsibility mark identifies the economic operator responsible for placing the article on the market.
Note: The marks found on a piece depend on its metal, weight, origin and applicable legal rules.
HALLMARK EXEMPTIONS
ARE ALL PRECIOUS-METAL PIECES HALLMARKED?
Portuguese law provides exemptions from the Assay Office hallmark according to total metallic weight.
Current thresholds:
GOLD — up to 0.5 g
PLATINUM — up to 0.5 g
SILVER — up to 2 g
For articles combining silver with gold or platinum, the applicable threshold is up to 0.5 g.
Total metallic weight includes precious and non-precious metals but excludes non-metallic materials.
Pieces exempt from the Assay Office hallmark remain subject to other applicable legal marking requirements, including the responsibility mark where required.

Fineness expresses the proportion of precious metal in an alloy in parts per thousand.
925 SILVER — 925‰ = 925 parts of silver per 1,000.
750 GOLD / 18K GOLD — 750‰ = 750 parts of gold per 1,000, corresponding to 18-karat gold.
