a perfect day in toronto

a perfect day in toronto

winters might be glacial in toronto, canada’s largest city, but this multicultural pot, known for being one of the most welcoming places in the world, has a lot to offer to its visitors. from its bursting cultural scene to world-class restaurants, toronto has it all. so pack a pair of sneakers and a nice and warm coat and get ready to walk. there’s simply no better way to explore the city than by foot.

START THE DAY IN YORKVILLE

filled with victorian-style houses, yorkville is one charming neighborhood. home to some of the most luxurious stores in town and pretty interesting luxury second-hand shops - don’t forget to check mine & yours - yorkville was the location chosen by streetwear brand kith for its first flagship store in canada. the two-story building also features a kith treats corner and a sadelle’s cafe.

FOR ALL THE ART LOVERS, AGO GOT YOU

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve visited the art gallery of ontario, or simply, AGO and in all those visits I was surprised by the incredible exhibitions held at the museum. this time was no different. AGO’s current exhibitions include kaws: family, keith haring: art is for everybody and american photographer arnold newman’s building icons, to name a few. the building itself is also a stunner. it’s architect frank gehry first building in canada.

IN THE MOOD FOR FOOD

time out magazine named it one of the coolest streets in the world and I have to agree. ossington avenue is indeed packed with some of my favorite restaurants in toronto. if you’re looking for something casual, try la cubana, as the name suggest it’s a cuban restaurant and the food is just delicious;

in the mood for some meat, then côte de bœuf is your spot. craving something sweet? give bang bang ice cream a try.

another favorite of mine and not far from ossington av.: bar raval. ranked #41 on north america’s best bars, bar raval has a vibe of its own thanks to the gaudí-esque interiors. perfect from some after-work tapas and, of course, some cocktails too.but if you’re a christmas hoard, don’t forget to catch the 2023 distillery winter village until december 31.
