best new tv shows coming in march

THE REGIME 

this upcoming political drama revolves around an authoritarian (but very unserious) chancellor of a fictional european country who, in order to maintain her grip on power, hires an unknown military man to join her inner circle of political supporters. starring oscar and emmy winner kate winslet, the film also stars hugh grant, martha plimpton, andrea riseborough and matthias schoenaerts.

THE GENTLEMAN 

netflix's next big release follows guy ritchie's 2019 film. the atmosphere of the series remains the same, but with new characters. eddie horniman (theo james) receives an unexpected inheritance from his father - a large country estate. however, it is part of a cannabis empire founded by ray winstone (bobby glass). of course, there's no shortage of unsavory british criminals who want in on the action.
guy ritchie is executive producing, writing and directing the movie alongside matthew read. the cast also includes theo james, vinnie jones, kaya scodelario, giancarlo esposito, daniel ings, joely richardson, peter serafinowicz, alexis rodney, chanel cresswell and max beesley.

THE GIRLS ON THE BUS

inspired by the journalistic experiences of amy chozick (co-creator with julie plec), girls on the bus follows the lives of four journalists as they follow the trail of a presidential campaign for a prestigious newspaper. despite their differences in personality and point of view, a bond is formed between them as they follow the chaos leading up to the election.
the series stars melissa benoist, carla gugino, natasha behnam, christina elmore, brandon scott, with griffin dunne, mark consuelos and scott foley.

MANHUNT 

based on the book by james i. swanson, manhunt: the 12-day hunt for lincoln's killer. this 7-episode miniseries tells the story of edwin m. stanton, secretary of war and personal friend of abraham lincoln, who becomes obsessed with finding the assassin       john wilkes booth. the cast includes tobias menzie in the lead role as well as anthony boyle, lovie simone, will harrison, brandon fynn, damian o'hare, glenn morshower, patton oswalt, matt walsh and hamish linklater.

PALM ROYALE 

premiering march 20 on HBO, palm royale follows maxime, a wannabe socialite trying to make a name for herself in palm beach society. to do so, she plans to join the ultra-exclusive palm royale club. with a very kitschy aesthetic and full of fantastic vintage outfits from the '60s and '70s, this could be the next fashion-forward tv fix. the cast includes: kristen wiig, laura dern, allison janney as evelyn, leslie bibb, ricky martin and kaia gerber.

WE WERE THE LUCKY ONES  

hulu's new limited series is based on the bestselling novel by georgia hunter and inspired by the author's family history. it follows the story of the jewish kurc family as they try to survive after the nazi invasion of poland and during world war II. it stars joey kinh and logan herman.
